This is a 1950 Triumph TR5 Trophy, a matching-numbers example of Triumph's original competition scrambler built after its ISDT success. It has a 498cc OHV parallel-twin engine with the distinctive alloy "square barrel" cylinder, rigid frame, and wide-ratio gearbox. The bike was previously restored in the UK and is said to start easily, idle well, and pull strongly with normal oil circulation and no visible smoke. It has not been ridden regularly in recent years, so the seller recommends further servicing before extended road use. Notably, this exact motorcycle appeared on the cover of Classic Bike Guide's September 2002 issue, and that magazine issue is included with the sale along with UK V5 registration, a Japanese customs import certificate, and a bill of sale. The bike is located at a showroom in Zushi, Kanagawa, and viewing is available by appointment. Sold as-is with no warranty on authenticity or condition beyond the seller's description.
Seller notes minor scratches and wear typical of a 75+ year old restored motorcycle, including a small dent in the rear mudguard and a missing side stand (only the rear stand is fitted). Lighting and charging system have not been function-tested and may need servicing before road use.
